RANGERS legend Andy Goram scrounged £12,000 from two women after claiming he’d fallen on hard times.

The ex-goalie, 56, told the pair he needed cash for rent, booze and even shampoo but has failed to pay them back.

One said: “He has gone from hero to zero.”

An ex-lover claimed the Rangers idol begged for money to buy footie boots because he was so skint.

The mum said the cash plea was one of dozens made by the former Ibrox and Scotland keeper during their 15-month relationship.

She told how she was coaxed into handing over almost £8,000 following a string of “sob stories” by Goram, who insisted he didn’t have any dosh.

It came as another woman claimed he had sponged around £4,000 from her — with both accusing the former Manchester United player of failing to repay their bailouts.

In a withering blast at Goram, his ex — who we are referring to as Woman A to protect her identity — said of their romance: “If I’d known what he was like I would never have got involved.

“He can be great company and a real friendly guy but behind the facade there’s another person others need to know about. He lives off his name and takes no responsibility. Looking back on it now I’m embarrassed, but he strung me along and persuaded me to give him close to £8,000 with all sorts of sob stories.”

The Scottish Sun on Sunday has been shown a series of messages sent to Woman A.

During one exchange, Goram claimed he was in the running for a job at Lowland League big spenders Kelty Hearts, where Rangers icon Barry Ferguson, 42, is boss and former Ibrox team-mate Bob Malcolm, 39, is his No2.

He wrote: “The owner wants me to go to Edinburgh to meet. Problem. I don’t have a penny to get the train through and I need to buy boots for tomorrow. Is there any way you could spare £100 just now till Friday?”

In another chat from his modest flat in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Goram said: “I have nothing in the house here. No deodorant, shampoo, food, nothing. Is there any way you could help me out just so I can go to the shop in the morning. I’m a shambles here xx.”

The woman replied: “Let me have a look in the morning. Don’t get paid myself till Friday. xx.”

Goram — a regular on the lucrative after dinner speaking circuit - then hinted at an upcoming pay day, saying: “I think I got a couple of wee gigs coming up this month.”

Another plea read: “I don’t have food or wine or anything in here. Is there any way you could spare anything now so I could do a shop to get me through to Monday?”

Goram also vowed to sign over pensions built up during his glittering career — if she could take out a £4,000 loan to tide him over.

He said: “You think you can help me with this £4,000. I got my pension payments ready to transfer and everything. It would stop all this carry on.”

He added: “Can’t get the £4,000 from anywhere. I’m f***ed.”

Bank statements show Woman A made 31 payments into Goram’s account in just ten months, totalling £5,250.

She claimed she forked out another £3,000 in ATM withdrawals, meals out and shopping. The documented payments range from just £20 to a whopping £1,500 over five days last August.

The following month she made four payments totalling £750 and a further three transactions in October for the same amount.

She dished out £640 in November and December. Seven payments totalling £440 were made during January and February this year followed by four in March worth £330. Woman A also made two £60 payments in April and five more in May amounting to £780.

The divorced mum told how the cash pleas began a month after she hooked up with Goram, who she knew through mutual friends.

She said he messaged her on Facebook on July 20 last year asking: “I know you but where do I know your face from??”

Recalling the start of their fling, she added: “I had met him a few times before but I hadn’t seen him for about ten years until I got this random message. He asked me out and we went for drinks and a meal and it went from there. He started asking for money round about August last year and continued begging.

“Overall I’ve handed over close to the tune of eight grand and I have bank statements to prove it. I helped pay his rent because he told me he was facing eviction and I even paid top-ups for his phone.”

Her experience is similar to Woman B, a Gers fan who claimed Goram scrounged cash from her after he injured himself in an Old Firm legends charity match.

The goalie detailed a £3,900 repayment plan in an email — seen by The Scottish Sun on Sunday — which the woman asked for as proof of the hefty sum.

The note titled “Loan agreement” and sent by Goram on December 20, 2018 reads: “Andy Goram is to pay xxx the sum of £3,400 plus another £500 plus any extra visa interest by the last day of April 2019. Regards, Andy Goram…x”

Woman B had agreed to help the keeper, who said he was left with a costly hospital bill and lack of earnings following his injury. On October 22 that year, he told her in a WhatsApp message: “I ruptured my Achilles in the Old Firm charity match at Hurlford 8 weeks ago.

“Not worked since the surgery. Had two operations. No work, no wages, no rent. I’m a bit behind, nightmare.”

She replied: “When are you gonny start being sensible wi money!!! Got money on my Visa??x”

Goram, who also starred for Hibs and Manchester United in his playing days, hit back: “I’ve not worked since my operation. No wages. Nothing to do with not being sensible. The operation was £4,050.” She asked: “The football no pay that? No gonny see ye skint n starvin.”

Goram claimed Rangers “paid half”. The woman replied: “Miserable sods. Got money on my Visa I can lend you?” She agreed to pay his rent with a series of handouts as the footie hero continued to plead poverty.

But the furious woman says she’s still waiting to be repaid. And she claims Goram has stopped responding to calls and messages.

She said: “I got to know Andy through social events related to Rangers during the nine-in-a-row era. We hadn’t spoken for years before we got back in touch through mutual contacts. I had loaned him money before but I always got it back.

“One time I sent him £1,000 cash in an envelope and he paid me back as promised. So when he asked for a loan towards the end of 2018 I was happy to help. But that was nearly two years ago and I’m still waiting.”

She added: “He was Scotland’s greatest goalie and he’s ruined it all. He surrounds himself with hangers-on but how many of them actually care about him? I hope he gets the help he obviously needs.”

Goram confirmed he owed the women cash when he responded to The Scottish Sun on Sunday by email. He said: “They agreed to legitimate loans to be paid back from the sale of the company I have shares in or from my contract agreed for March from a team in Saudi Arabia — and I have it documented.”

He refused to answer claims he’d “strung” the women along, or which club he’d be working with in the Middle East. When asked when they’ll get their dosh back, Goram referred to the contract he drafted which promised the cash would be returned by “the last day of April 2019”.

He added: “As agreed…from the sale of the company or my contract in Saudi in March…whichever is first.”
