Liverpool face Arsenal an Anfield, with both sides looking to extend their perfect starts to the Premier League season.

Jurgen Klopp is facing a massive selection headache, with Thiago Alcantara and Alisson major doubts for Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal. Liverpool are already without captain Jordan Henderson for the visit of the Gunners, who have made a 100% start to the season.

Liverpool have also won their opening two league games, but could be forced to play Mikel Arteta’s side without two expected starters.

Alisson has emerged as one of the top keepers in European football since his switch from Roma.

But the Brazilian, along with new signing Thiago Alcantara have missed the last week’s training at Melwood.

Thiago made his debut in the win over Chelsea, but will undergo a late fitness test to confirm his availability for Arsenal.

Should the new arrival be ruled out, it will serve Klopp a massive boost after impressing at Stamford Bridge last time out.

Klopp hinted he would be in line for a start when he spoke to reporters earlier this week.

On playing him from the start, the Reds boss said: “We will see, we will see. We have a few days to train, some boys have to recover from last night, so we will see how we set up against Arsenal.

“I have an idea, but why should I make the decision today when we have time until Monday? But he is in contention, for sure. Yeah, let’s see.”

Earlier this week Klopp confirmed that Henderson would miss Monday night’s game after being withdrawn during the win at Chelsea.

He also revealed Joel Matip has yet to return to training, but the Reds are boosted by Joe Gomez’s return to full training.

“I think Joe should be back today in training, that’s what everybody told me – and nobody told me something different since,” said Klopp in his pre-match press conference.

“Billy the kid is back in training. Joel not, pretty much. Hendo not yet, that was clear – this game is for sure too early. I think that’s it, pretty much.”

Alisson will also be required to undertake a late fitness test, with a final training session planned at Melwood on Sunday.

The keeper missed two months of the Premier League last season after suffering a calf injury.

He also struggled with a hip injury in the latter part of the season, missing 14  matches in total last term.

Should he be deemed unavailable, Adrian will likely be the man to take his place.

The Spaniard started in the EFL Cup win over Lincoln City in midweek and could keep hold of that place for the Premier League clash.
