Man Utd urged to sign Jadon Sancho alternative who will 'get fans off their seats'

Manchester United have been urged to sign Gareth Bale instead of Jadon Sancho - because the Real Madrid outcast will 'get fans off their seats'. Wantaway Bale has emerged as a potential alternative to Sancho for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Borussia Dortmund have shown no signs of budging from their £108million valuation of England winger Sancho, who has been United's top target all summer.

Bale, on the other hand, could be available for around £18.5m - although it has been reported that the Red Devils would prefer to take him on loan.

Former Old Trafford midfielder Luke Chadwick says Sancho brings the kind of "X-Factor" fans are looking for from a new signing as United aim to bridge the gap to Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

But he reckons if United's pursuit of the 20-year-old fails, Bale would be a pretty good plan B.

"I’m sure lots of work has gone into the Sancho deal and things seem to be getting away from them at the moment," Chadwick told CaughtOffside.

“I think someone like Sancho adds a bit of X factor like in United teams of the past, so I think someone like him is essential.

"If it doesn’t happen, it will leave a bit of a hole and leaves a lack of time for the recruitment department to get someone of that quality into the club."

Bale has hardly played for Madrid this year under manager Zinedine Zidane, but the Wales star's quality is not in doubt, and Chadwick says he would perfectly complement United's attack and get fans "excited".

“I think Bale would certainly give a buzz around the place," said Chadwick.

"He’s obviously had a tough few years and not played the amount of football he would have hoped, but in terms of the sort of player he is, when you talk about Man United players of the past, he’s someone who would get the crowd excited, get fans off their seats.

“A wide player in the mould of Sancho, Bale, in my opinion would be a fantastic signing. One of those two, or someone in that position, needs to come in.”

Bale has been Left out of Zidane's plans for most of his two separate spells in charge.

The 31-year-old is frustrated by his lack of football and would be open to joining United should they make an approach.

"If those options arise, it is something I'd look at for sure," Bale recently told Sky Sports about a potential return to the Premier League.

"We'll see what happens, we have plenty of time in this transfer window and a couple of others as well.

"Time will tell but mainly I think the reason is that the decision is in Real Madrid's hands."

Bale could have secured a return to the UK last summer had the La Liga side not slammed the brakes on his departure.

Former Real president Ramon Calderon claims an £89m bid was submitted 12 months ago.
