Salford manager Graham Alexander has a fully-fit squad with which to open their Sky Bet League Two campaign at home to Exeter.
In midweek, for the 6-0 EFL Trophy defeat to Manchester United Under-21s, he rested all 11 players who featured in last weekend’s Carabao Cup win over Rotherham.
Former United forward James Wilson completed his first 90 minutes in any game since February on Tuesday, while Richie Towell and Tom Elliott both got valuable minutes under their belts.
However, Alexander is likely to bring back the majority of players who were rested, which will mean returns for the likes of former Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson, Jason Lowe and experienced defender Ash Eastham.
Exeter manager Matt Taylor is likely to make significant changes from the midweek EFL Trophy win over Forest Green.
Defenders Pierce Sweeney and Tom Parkes are both close to full fitness after making their first appearances on Tuesday since June’s play-off final defeat, while forward Alex Fisher is back in contention after missing that game.
Nicky Law returned to training this week but the league opener will come too soon for him, Jack Caprice and Alex Hartridge.
Summer signings Rory McArdle and Lewis Page, and youth team player Josh Key, are in line for their league debuts for the club.
