Everton have confirmed their big-money third deal in as many days after bagging Abdoulaye Doucoure from relegated Watford in a deal worth £20m on a three-year contract

Abdoulaye Doucoure believes Everton will be the step up he needs in his career after he completed his £20m move from Watford last night.

The French midfielder, 27, has penned a three-year deal with the club having an option for a further 12 months.

Doucoure follows Allan and James Rodriguez in adding to Everton's midfield options.

He said: “I have been waiting a long time to come here and now it has happened so I am very happy.

"I had some interest from other clubs but from the beginning when Everton showed an interest in me I told my agent to focus on Everton.

"It was the only club I wanted to join.

"Everton has a big history in English football and it is a good club for me to have a step up in my career.

"I am very happy now to be an Everton player and very excited for the future.”

Doucoure joined Watford from Stade Rennes in 2016 and Everton tried to bring him to Goodison Park last summer under manager Marco Silva.

But director of football Marcel Brands has remained a fan and now he links up with Carlo Ancelotti at the Blues.

Meanwhile, Everton have been offered Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori on a season-long loan.

The Toffees are considering their defensive options with Mason Holgate looking set to miss the start of the season with a toe injury.
