With Odsonne Edouard's Celtic future uncertain amid interest from Premier League clubs, the Scottish champions are weighing up a move for Liverpool ace Taiwo Awoniyi

Celtic are interested in Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

The Reds forward has been at the club for five years but spent all of the time out on loan.

But the Scottish champions are eyeing up a move for the 23-year-old Nigerian who would cost around £9m.

Celtic are keeping tabs on forward options should Odsonne Edouard depart the club.

Edouard has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs after he bagged 28 goals last season and has already netted four times this term.

Awoniyi has been earmarked as a potential replacement.

The Nigeria Under-23 international has spent last season on loan at Mainz having previously had spells at Royal Excel Mouscron, Gent, NEC and Frankfurt.

Meanwhile, Leeds are continuing their pursuit of Rangers ace Ryan Kent.

The Premier League new boys had a bid of around £10m rejected last week.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard said the offer was nowhere near what the Scottish club would want to let the attacker leave.

Leeds are understood to be considering a further bid in the region of £15m.

Liverpool will be due a 20 per cent sell on fee for any profit Rangers make on a deal if they choose to sell.

Kent, 23, signed a permanent deal with Rangers from Liverpool last summer in a move worth around £7m.

He had spent the previous campaign on loan with Rangers.

Kent has scored three goals so far this season to add to the eight he bagged last term.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is a keen admirer of Kent and tried to bring him to the Yorkshire club last year.

Kent is understood to be happy at Ibrox but would be willing to make an impression in the Premier League if Rangers decide to sell.

But he won't force his way out of the club so Leeds face a battle to convince Rangers to sell.
