Sergio Aguero has one year left on his Manchester City contract and the star striker could follow David Silva out of the doors of the Premier League giants at the end of his current deal

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said that Sergio Aguero’s future is up to the man himself.

City’s record goalscorer Aguero is out of contract at the Etihad next summer, as is manager Pep Guardiola.

And Al Mubarak has admitted the pair could leave next summer, should they choose to do so.

"Vincent Kompany left when he felt it was right for him to leave and the same thing with David [Silva],” said Al Mubarak.

"Sergio is going to be the same and we will work it out together and it will be very natural, wherever that is, this year or the year after.

"It will play out in a comfortable way whatever Sergio decides. Pep is a similar answer. This conversation with Pep is a natural conversation.

"Pep and I have a very clear understanding about what is right for the club and what is not. We have a clear alignment in terms of where we see the future and what we want in terms of success.

"It will work out in the best way for Pep, for me and for the club. I’m very comfortable about that.”

Aguero was asked about his future earlier in the season and said: "At the moment I am not thinking about what to do. With this, all the clubs are having problems.

"Up until next year, it can be extended for two months or more. There are players who end contracts this year and if it is played in July, August or September, the clubs are going to have problems.

"I don’t know if they can renew with players for three months or six. The first thing is to end this season and hit everything next.”

Aguero joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2011 and is the fourth highest goalscorer in the Premier League history and holds the record for most hat-tricks with 12.

He’s won four Premier League titles with City as well as an FA Cup, five League Cups and three Community Shield crowns.
