Manchester United's Harry Maguire was involved in a brawl on the Greek island of Mykonos after his younger sister was allegedly stabbed in arm.

In the early hours of Friday morning, the England international was arrested with two two other men outside a bar while on his holidays.

During the reported brawl, Maguire was with 19-year-old sister Daisy.

A row is claimed to have erupted when the United defender was apparently taunted by rival fans.

Mykonos Voice reports that Daisy was then stabbed in the arm with a "sharp object", which saw her bleed.

Maguire is then said to have stepped in to defend her, and when police turned up, the Red Devils star was allegedly "verbally abusive to an officer and then hit him".

Maguire was recognised by several fans and locals who he interacted with by fist bumping and taking selfies while on holiday before the chaos ensued

He spent the night in a local jail before appearing in court yesterday and then again this morning.

Constantine Darivas, the lawyer acting on behalf of Maguire, told Greek media that the player denies any allegations.

"The process is ongoing. Maguire is in great condition," Darivas said yesterday.

"We'll be able to say more tomorrow morning.

"He denies the allegations and I am fully convinced that tomorrow he will be released without any charges."

After being in court this morning, he left before being asked questions by Sky News.

Maguire chose not to speak as he entered a vehicle.

His lawyer was asked, though, if Maguire was a free man, to which he replied: "For now, yes."

United confirmed on Friday they had reached out to Maguire regarding his situation and said in a statement: "The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night.

"Contact has been made with Harry and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities.

"At this time we will be making no further comment."

It has since emerged that Maguire pleaded not guilty to the charges against him in court this morning.

The case has been adjourned until a hearing on Tuesday and the defender will now leave Greece.

The charges against Maguire, getting into an altercation, were considered misdemeanours.

It means that Maguire can be represented by his lawyers in court in the hearing scheduled on August 25.
