Manchester United have moved one step closer to signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign Jadon Sancho on a five-year contract. United have long been the frontrunners for Sancho's signature with rival clubs unable to meet Borussia Dortmund's sky-high demands.

The Bundesliga outfit are refusing to budge on their £108million valuation, but it appears as though United are edging closer to completing a deal.

Dortmund have set United a deadline of August 10 to complete a transfer so Lucien Favre can move forward with his squad when their pre-season schedule begins in earnest.

That has seemingly sped up negotiations between United and Dortmund, with talks said to be at an "advanced stage".

United are unlikely to pay £108m up front though, with instalments and add-ons set to make up the full price.

But the Red Devils have edged even closer to bringing an end to the long transfer saga.

According to Sky Germany, Sancho has agreed personal terms with United on a contract running until 2025.

The report states a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs but negotiations will continue.

Sancho has been United's No 1 transfer target for several months now.

Despite the impressive goalscoring form Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood have shown, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen to bolster his options up front.

If United secure his signature, the 20-year-old is expected to take his place on the right-hand side of the front three with Rashford on the left and Martial through the middle.

The England international has been a revelation in the Bundesliga since leaving Manchester City three years ago.

This past season, Sancho scored 20 goals and provided 20 assists.

United's eagerness to push through with a move for Sancho now may have come about due to the agreement in place for Alexis Sanchez to join Inter Milan permanently.

The Red Devils were desperate to get Sanchez's huge contract off their wage bill.

And the Chile international has apparently taken a huge pay-cut to sign on a permanent basis for Inter.

The Serie A side have reportedly stumped up £13.5million to sign the former Arsenal forward.
