MAN United legend Paul Scholes was given the hairdryer treatment by police yesterday for throwing an illegal house party in a Covid crisis area.
Cops went to his £3.5million mansion after The Sun on Sunday revealed he hosted a 21st birthday bash for son Arron.
Police visited Man United legend Paul Scholes after he threw an illegal house party in Covid crisis area Oldham
Scholes hosted an illegal party in a Covid hotspot area where dozens of youngsters, including his daughter Alicia, flouted social distancing rules
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers attended and engaged with an individual, explaining the restrictions and encouraging them to be compliant.”
Each guest could have been fined £100 over Friday night’s bash in Oldham — soon after indoor social visits were banned across a swathe of the North because of a Covid spike.
Former England star Scholes, 45 — now a BT Sport pundit — had posed in a “Lockdown Live” T-shirt with DJ Zac Caulcutt, while dozens of youngsters ignored social distancing rules.
Another snap showed his 19-year-old daughter Alicia, an England netball player, posing with a group of friends before the celebrations.
She seemed unrepentant yesterday, sharing an image of the front page story while mocking: “It’s Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
But local MP Debbie Abrahams said: “We all need to play our part. I urge everyone to follow the new guidelines.”
Latest figures show the infection rate in Oldham soared to 58.1 per 100,000 people.
Anywhere above 50 cases per 100,000 is rated “red” by the Government.
