Manchester United are moving closer towards an agreement for Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on Jadon Sancho, with Borussia Dortmund willing to accept an initial £60million up front. The Old Trafford hierarchy will still have to negotiate the remainder of the deal and how the payments are structured but there is optimism that the move will be completed.

Dortmund are very clear that any deal must exceed their £100million valuation, which has changed since lockdown.

Earlier in the year they were set to demand £120million from any potential buyers but they are now refusing to budge on their £100m asking price.

That's why United will have to strike an agreement surrounding add-ons, which are likely to revolve around a number of variables including appearances, trophies, United's Premier League and Champions League progress.

Sancho has been clear with Dortmund that he wants to return to England after enjoying a dramatic rise to stardom in the Bundesliga.

He was left disapointed after being dropped to the bench by Lucien Favre for the final two matches of the season, which would suggest Dortmund are planning for life without him.

Now according to The Independent, United have convinced Dortmund to sell and the German club are said to be pushing for the deal to go through.

There is still no formal offer on the table from United despite reports of a bid earlier this week.

That's because they're relaxed about the manner of negations with Dortmund in which the two clubs are working together to find an agreement that suits all parties.

Yesterday there were claims from Germany that Sancho would actually prefer a move to Liverpool over United.

While it's unclear whether that is true, Liverpool were never likley to move for Sancho this summer unless Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah left.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's determination to bring him to the club will sit well with Sancho and the No 7 shirt is already waiting for him at Old Trafford.

The United boss has already spoken with his England internationals Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford to get the lowdown on Sancho's character.

Dortmund do not want the saga to dominate their summer and they are already aware they have plenty of work to do to catch Bayern next season in the Bundesliga.

They have already secured the signing of former Birmingham sensation Jude Bellingham, beating Manchester United to the deal.

Now they will look to replace Sancho with Werder Bremen's Milot Rashica among those in contention. Ferran Torres was also an option but he is now heading for the Premier League with Manchester City.

United were given an ultimatum by Dortmund earlier in the windo and were told any deal for Sancho but must wrapped up by August 10, when the German club begin their pre-season tour.
