Zidane: I don't get involved with opinions on VAR

Zinedine Zidane spoke to the press ahead of the potential title-clinching match against Granada.

The Frenchman mentioned it was the most difficult week of the season due to the physical toll, but assured that the only thing on the players' minds was taking each game as it comes.

Questioned as to whether Real Madrid were playing to the best of their abilities, Zidane felt the effort on the pitch was the most important.

"It doesn't bother me when people talk about things like this," he said.

"Everyone can give their own opinion but Real Madrid are Real Madrid and are one of the most important clubs in history."

He also paid tribute to his defence and goalkeeper, who have been spectacular of late.

"The team is always balanced and I'm happy with the defensive work of [Thibaut] Courtois and the whole team," Zidane said.

"This team always wants to achieve great things"

Much has been made about recent VAR decisions going in Real Madrid's favour, but Zidane wasn't too keen on entertaining them.

"Everyone can give whatever opinion they want, and I don't get involved with other people's opinions," Zidane stated.

"We're giving our all on the pitch and we're putting in a big effort every day. That's all I'm interested in."

Zidane was asked if James Rodriguez, who has struggled for game time this campaign, would travel to Granada.

"You'll see later. I'm counting on everyone," he stated.

"It's his birthday so the first thing I'm going to do is congratulate him on that.

"He's part of the squad and I'm not going to disregard any player in my team.

"Everyone is important and everyone brings something to the team."

He did confirm, however, that Eden Hazard would be part of the squad.

"He's here with us and we'll see if he plays or not," he said about the Belgian.

With Marcelo injured, Ferland Mendy has stepped in at left-back to good effect.

"What Mendy is doing doesn't surprise me at all. It was my desire to bring him in," he stated.

"He's a young player with a lot of talent.

"You can't compare him with Marcelo because Marcelo is Marcelo and Mendy is Mendy.

"Mendy is showing that he is a Real Madrid player."
