ARSENAL and Paris Saint-Germain could go head-to-head in a transfer battle for Newcastle star Allan Saint-Maximin, according to reports.

The French winger has been in scintillating form for the Magpies this season - especially since football returned from lockdown.

But having snapped up the Frenchman for just £17million from Nice last summer, the Geordies could be forced to do business again - likely making a huge profit.

Arsenal and Napoli are both keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, according to French outlet Le10Sport.

And PSG are also eyeing a big money move for the talented star, according to Yahoo.

The former Monaco man has started all four of Newcastle's Premier League games since lockdown and has bagged a goal and three assists in that time.

The assists all came in the Toon's 4-1 thrashing of Bournemouth last Wednesday but he failed to register a goal contribution during their 2-2 draw with West Ham at St James' Park yesterday.

Arsenal's strongest attack sees Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe playing either side of Alexandre Lacazette through the middle.

But with the latter being linked with Atletico Madrid as part of a swap deal for Thomas Partey, Aubameyang could move back into the main striker role and Saint-Maximin fill the void out wide.

It emerged last week the maverick wideman trains with his DOG, has an IQ of 145 and was expelled from school age 12, according to the Mail.

But having previously struggled with off-field problems, Saint-Maximin returned from lockdown a player reborn.

And that form has seen him nominated for the player of the month.

However, such is his improvent this season, he is said to be frustrated at earning just £36k-a-week plus bonuses - far less than many who rarely play.

But asked if Newcastle might cash in this summer, Steve Bruce snapped back: “No chance!"

“When you look at the money we bought him for, he is arguably the best pound for pound signing – show me another who is better.

“With what he has produced, we have probably got the buy of the season.”
