MANCHESTER UNITED star Sergio Romero's wife Eliana Guercio says their daughters don't even play on their controversial £20,000 playground - because Manchester is too cold.

The goalie, 33, and his wife put up the 12ft-high castle, a 10ft slide and a 14ft high penthouse den without planning permission.

Angry residents near their £2.8million mansion said it was too large and branded it a “theme park."

Others said it wasn’t right for their quiet neighbourhood and claimed it could distract passing motorists.

But fiery Eliana - mum to their three daughters, Jazmín, 10, Chloe, seven and Meghan, two - hit back at their neighbours.

She said it’s too chilly in Manchester so their girls barely go outside after school to play on it anyway.

The model said it is hidden from the road and cars couldn’t crash because of the 10mph speed limit in the street.

She told Caras: “Where we put up the playground is part of our house, I don’t understand why the neighbours got annoyed.

“You can’t see the place where we put it, and besides, as soon as we put it up we went away for two months.

“We came to Argentina, afterwards we went to the beach and afterwards when we returned, the girls went back to school.

“After 4pm, it’s already cold, so the girls don’t go out in the garden.”

Eliana, 43, whose hubby crashed his £170,000 Lamborghini earlier this year, added: “You can’t see the playground from the street as it’s hidden by a line of trees.

“They said it was 80 per cent metal and in vibrant colours, but that’s not true.

“It’s 80 per cent plastic and the slides are opaque yellow.

“There is a model you can order which has a cover, but ours wasn’t like that.

“Their arguments were illogical.

“It couldn’t have caused an accident, because you can’t drive at more than 10mph in our neighbourhood.

“There were no kids playing there. Everything they said was a lie. The playground is still up.

“They’ve asked us to take it down but we’ve appealed.”

Eliana's criticism of the weather in the north west mirrored that of Angel Di Maria's wife, who branded the couple's time in Manchester "s***" due to the people and the "disgusting food".

Eliana added: “The appeal at the council was… how can I say it … we didn’t need to get planning permission, but they said we should have asked the neighbours.”
