DAVID BECKHAM showed his class once again by making a shock visit to a Liverpool supporter with cancer's home.

The Manchester United and England hero, 44, continued his admirable charity work on Easter Monday with the surprise.

Abiding by social distancing regulations, Becks headed to Abingdon, Oxfordshire to go and see David Roberts.

Mr Roberts, 70, was put forward by charity Age UK to receive an unexpected visit from a 'high-profile celebrity'.

But after being told he would be getting a call around 10.15am, he was instead "amazed" to find the former Three Lions captain stood in his front garden.

Selfless Beckham was wearing a navy jumper, tan chinos and a brown leather newsboy cap as he came bearing gifts.

They discussed the current football situation and the Old Trafford legend admitted Liverpool deserve to win the Premier League.

The ex-Real Madrid star is self-isolating with his family in a luxury pad in the nearby Cotswolds but explained his son Brooklyn is in lockdown with his girlfriend in the USA.

Mr Roberts told the Oxford Mail: "David was at my door right on time. All I could think to say was, 'Hello, how are you?'

"He is a lovely guy, we chatted about what will happen to this season’s football, Manchester United and also me being a Liverpool supporter.

"He also gave a goody bag to me and my family."

The Reds fan lives with his wife and 33-year-old son, who together have looked after him during his three-year battle with cancer.

And Mr Roberts was determined to acknowledge those that had supported and helped him throughout.

He added: "I think the visit was as much for them as me because they have cared for me since I had a cancer operation in December, which I have been battling, with the help and support of family and friends who include neighbours and work colleagues for three years."

As well as this work with Age UK, Beckham is heavily involved with children's charity Unicef, supporting disadvantaged young people in danger across the world.

The former footballer, who has shaved his head during the current lockdown, has also been vocal in his appreciation for the NHS during the coronavirus crisis.

Taking to Instagram where he has 62.4million followers, the father-of-four captioned a video of his family clapping for the NHS: "Happy to be able to come together with the whole country to thank the brave healthcare workers and our brilliant NHS working tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19."

And in a separate video for NHS staff in Manchester, Becks added: "You are all doing an amazing job and I just wanted to send a special shout out to all the kids whose mums, dads and wider families are working so hard across hospitals and communities in Greater Manchester during this time.

"Carry on supporting each other, stay safe, stay well, lots of love."

Becks is an avid supporter of many charities and recently added his thanks to the work the NHS are doing in the fight against coronavirus
