David Moyes wants to buy British this summer and build an exciting young core at West Ham.

The Hammers boss wants to boost the number of homegrown players in his squad and will scour the Championship for signings.

Jarrod Bowen has been a huge hit since his £22m arrival from Hull in January and Moyes is keen to find similar talent.

He already intends to add Grady Diangana and Josh Cullen to his squad when the pair return from loan spells at West Brom and Charlton respectively.

England Under 21 winger Diangana, 21, had five goals and six assists for the Baggies before suffering a hamstring injury.

And Republic of Ireland international midfielder Cullen, 23, has impressed in the engine room at the Valley.

But with skipper Mark Noble turning 33 in May and fears growing that star man Declan Rice may one day have to be sold, Moyes is keen to spend.

The Hammers have splashed out big money on a series of luxury foreign signings in recent windows, including Felipe Anderson, Pablo Fornals, Andriy Yarmolenko and Sebastien Haller.

But Moyes also hopes to be able to call on former Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere next season once he recovers from his latest injury.

The Hammers are currently 16th in the Premier League, with goal difference keeping them out of the bottom three.

But Moyes is confident they will beat the drop if and when the season resumes and has already begun planning ahead.

He wants an overhaul of the club’s much-criticised scouting network and more input into the overall transfer policy.
