Doncaster boss Darren Moore taking it one game at a time in play-off push

Doncaster boss Darren Moore preferred not to talk about his side’s play-off chances despite seeing Rovers boost their top-six hopes with a 1-0 victory at MK Dons.

Jacob Ramsey’s second-half winner saw Doncaster climb up to ninth in the League One table, just five points off Portsmouth in sixth.

However, Moore is refusing to look too far ahead after seeing his side follow up victory over Wycombe with another three-point haul.

He said: “We are not in the play-offs yet so I will not talk about it at the moment, and we also have a lot of work to do.

“We are trying to get some momentum but we just have to move to the next game and we are not looking beyond that.”

On-loan Aston Villa midfielder Ramsey got the only goal of the game after 67 minutes – his third since joining in January – when he met Jon Taylor’s cross with an emphatic right-footed finish, demonstrating one of his most impressive traits according to the boss.

“Jacob Ramsey has an ability to arrive at the right time into the box and get a really clean contact with the ball, and he should be pleased with his development,”said Moore.

Doncaster ended the Dons’ three-game winning run at Stadium MK and Moore was ecstatic to limit the hosts to half-chances.

“MK Dons have a tremendous home record so for us to come here and stifle them in possession is really pleasing,” he added.

“MK are a team making headway in the division and they play good football, they have a style and credit to Russell Martin and his team for what they are doing.

“We took our chance and stayed resolute in our defending so it is a very creditable three points for the players.”

Dons boss Martin was frustrated with his team’s lack of resilience on home turf after a promising start.

“We were excellent in the first half, but I cannot explain the second half because it was not what we spoke about so that is really disappointing,” he said.

“We were playing a good team so you have to give respect to them. We did not look like ourselves in the second half and I cannot really explain it. They had one big chance and took it.

“We are where we are and we are learning more about what we want to do, so we will have to learn from this and make sure we do not make the same mistakes.

“It felt like whatever we did here it was just flat but it is up to us to understand why that has happened.

“We have really clarity on what we need to work on, but we just lacked a little bit of strong mentality – we have to make sure we are at it every week and hopefully we will get a reaction from this result.”
