Getafe's Europa League encounter with Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena was a heated affair, and tensions were not just limited to the pitch as wives of the Spanish side's players complained that they were attacked by certain sections of the home crowd.
A group of Ajax fans threw beers and lighters into the section which was occupied by women, children and friends of the Getafe players who, after Ajax's second goal at the start of the second half, had to leave the area as they were not being protected by the security team.
"They aren't doing anything," a wife of one Getafe player said of the stadium's security staff.
"We are fleeing, they are assaulting us. There are children and old people and we have to leave.
"This is outrageous."
The section for Getafe guests was beneath the part where some Ajax radicals were sitting and, from the press area, a number of beers could be seen hurled towards the Spanish side's relatives and friends just after the hosts levelled the score.
"My wife and my daughters were in the stands and they had everything thrown at them," Damian Suarez said after the game.
"This can't be accepted," the full-back added.
Getafe have filed a report to the Dutch police, and have also complained to UEFA about what took place in the guest area of the Johan Cruyff Arena, stating that many of those fans ended up watching the game on a bus to avoid any serious incident.
