David Dunn delighted as Blackpool battle to beat Bolton

Caretaker boss David Dunn hailed Blackpool’s resilience after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s last-minute winner secured a 2-1 win over lowly Bolton at Bloomfield Road.

The Seasiders – who have reportedly had an approach for Oxford boss Karl Robinson rejected – went in front through Connor Ronan’s strike in the 13th minute.

Kean Bryan looked to have given the Trotters a point late on, but Dewsbury-Hall settled the game in the 90th minute.

“It feels great to win,” said Dunn. “Even if we did make hard work of it in the second half.

“I thought we were excellent in the first half – we were as good as I’ve seen really, with the way we passed it. We picked second balls up, we were getting on the end of things, and I thought we were really good value for our lead.

“I said at half-time we needed to carry on doing that, but I knew Bolton were going to come out of the traps and make it more difficult for us.

“Their shape gave us a few issues and we had to change it in the end because I felt that it was only a matter of time before they maybe hurt us a little bit more. But again, the way the lads stuck in there and got that win was excellent.”

Bolton – without a win since February 1 – remain rooted to the bottom of League One.

Hill said: “We’re doing a lot of hard work behind the scenes and getting no reward. We can do all the preparation we need to do, but to lose the game in the manner that we have done is very deflating.

“We expect to work hard, but we’d like to at least come up with a fighting opportunity to get something from the game.

“In the second half the players played with freedom and a lack of fear and deservedly got the equaliser, so to go on and lose the game so late on is very disappointing.

“Ultimately the players are responsible for those key decisions that they’re making or not making in games. We’ve defended set pieces so well tonight and then the one key deciding set piece, we don’t concentrate, and again it comes down to player decisions.”
