Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe would be keen on a summer transfer to Liverpool, believes Reds hero Peter Crouch.

Liverpool are capable of signing any player in world football thanks to Jurgen Klopp - even Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe. That’s the verdict of club hero Peter Crouch.

The Reds are the current reigning European champions and world champions, having won the Champions League last season and the FIFA Club World Cup this term, back in December.

And Liverpool are also the Premier League champions elect, boasting a 25-point lead over second-placed Manchester City knowing five wins from their final 12 games of the campaign will be enough for them to end a 30-year title wait.

But as they seek to remain atop their perch both in England and in Europe, the Merseyside outfit have been tipped to pursue a big-money attacking signing in the summer.

Those rumours have been fuelled even more with the news that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will take part in the Africa Cup of Nations midway through the 2020-21 campaign, which Salah could also miss the start of if he takes part in men’s football event at the Tokyo Olympics for Egypt.

With Nike becoming Liverpool’s multi-million new kit sponsor and supplier in the summer, Klopp and co. have been tipped to pursue one of the American sportswear giants’ poster boys in France international Mbappe or Jadon Sancho.

And Peter Crouch, speaking on BT Sport on Tuesday night in the build up to Liverpool’s Champions League last 16 first-leg against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital, thinks signing Mbappe isn’t just a pipe dream.

Should they pursue the fleet-footed attacker, Liverpool will face serious competition from Real Madrid, who have long been enchanted by the prospect of bringing him to the Bernabeu despite the knowledge it could cost them up to £250million to do so.

Discussing the difference between this Liverpool team and previous Reds sides, who often lost key players in their prime, Crouch argued none of the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane will be departing Anfield in the near future.

Instead, the former England striker - who spent three seasons at Liverpool between 2005 and 2008 and scored 42 goals in 134 games - believes players across the world will be desperate for a switch to Merseyside.

“Complete opposite,” Crouch said. “I’m looking at players like Mbappe and top, top class players who will want to come to Liverpool.

“They see how harmonious the group is, they’re winning every single game, they look like they’re playing with a smile on their face.

“Everyone in world football would want to work under Jurgen Klopp. He has built the club off of what Brendan Rodgers’ did, he did very, very well.

“Not only has he bought top-class players, he’s improved all of those players and they’re playing at the top of their game now.”

PSG’s Mbappe is arguably the most valuable player in world football and aged just 21, boasts 24 goals and 15 assists in 28 appearances this term.

The World Cup winner’s overall record at the Parc des Princes reads a stunning 84 goals and 47 assists in 115 matches.

Mbappe hailed Liverpool when in conversation with BBC Sport recently, saying: "What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing.

"They're like a machine, they've found a rhythm and are like 'we play again, we play again'.

"They've lost zero games. When you watch you think everything's easy but that's not easy.

“The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.

"Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them, so now they have to show they are strong again but it's a very good team with a very good manager."

Mbappe’s former Monaco team-mate Fabinho, who now plies his trade under Klopp, said of a potential swoop for the Frenchman to SPORTbible recently: “At this moment it would be a headache for Liverpool if we had him here because our attacking trio is very good.

"But I know Mbappe's quality, he's already one of the best players in the world, so he would obviously improve any team.

“Right now he plays for Paris Saint-Germain and we have to respect that."
