Southend will check on the fitness of winger Sam Barratt ahead of their Sky Bet League One clash with Coventry after he missed the midweek loss to Peterborough with a hamstring injury.
Forward Stephen Humphrys (broken nose), defender John White (broken arm) and midfielder Harry Phillips (knee) remain on the sidelines.
Midfielder Lewis Gard played for the under-23s this week after 16 months out with medial ligament damage but a first-team return is not imminent.
After also losing a raft of players in the January transfer window, manager Sol Campbell may also have to give further opportunities to youngsters such as Miles Mitchell-Nelson, Terrell Egbri and Matt Rush, who all featured in midweek.
Matty Godden is pushing to start for Coventry after coming off the bench to score the late winner against Portsmouth on Tuesday.
Godden had sat out the previous game against Bolton with a groin injury.
Loan signing Ryan Giles, who was an unused substitute in midweek, continues to await his debut.
Jodi Jones and Wesley Jobello remain the sidelines with knee injuries.
