Newport and Walsall share spoils from goalless stalemate

Chances were few and far between as Newport and Walsall played out a goalless Sky Bet League Two draw at Rodney Parade.

The two teams came into the game level on points in midtable with the Welsh side having three games in hand.

In the end, there was nothing to split them once again as they completed three hours this season without a single goal between them.

Walsall only manged three shots in the whole game – none of which were on target.

Newport at least managed to get three of their 16 on the mark, but have now gone three league games without scoring a goal.

The best chance of the game came as early as the second minute when Ryan Inniss stole in at the far post to meet a Otis Khan cross. He soared above the Walsall defence, but his header hit the side netting.

Walsall arrived buoyed by a 2-1 victory they had posted at Forest Green three days earlier that ended a run of three-straight defeats but they could not break the deadlock as the spoils were shared.
