Manchester United star Paul Pogba has told the squad that he still wants to leave Old Trafford, according to reports. The France international spent the summer chasing a move to Real Madrid but ended up staying after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked the 2018 World Cup winner from jumping ship.

Manchester United re-signed Pogba from Juventus back in the summer of 2016, with the club believing he'd be able to propel the club to Premier League title glory.

However, nearly four years on, and the France international has failed to live up to expectations.

Pogba has got nowhere near winning the title at United, despite helping the club win the EFL Cup and Europa League during Jose Mourinho's time in charge.

Back in the summer he publicly expressed a desire to move elsewhere, having grown tired of the club's side down the English football ladder.

And the Manchester Evening News say Pogba has confessed to the squad that he still wants to leave amid interest from Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of his compatriot and has previously asked club president Florentino Perez to secure his signing.

That didn't happen in the summer but Los Blancos are expected to revive their interest in the 26-year-old at the end of the season.

United team-mates are said to understand Pogba's stance and he remains a popular player within the club's dressing room.

And whether he now secures a move away is something only time will tell.

Pogba has endured an injury-plagued campaign at Old Trafford, making just seven Premier League appearances so far.

Some believe he may never play for the club again, despite Solskjaer repeatedly insisting the midfielder was at the forefront of his plans.

Meanwhile, speaking recently, pundit Chris Sutton called on Pogba to publicly state his intentions in order to help Solskjaer out.

"Louis Van Gaal won the FA Cup on a Saturday. By the Monday, he was sacked," he wrote.

"That's how extreme it is to manage Manchester United. Their 0-0 draw at Wolves was not the greatest spectacle. What is not helping is the Paul Pogba situation.

"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to answer questions about Pogba again when the Frenchman should be clarifying his future himself.

"Use those 7.2m Twitter followers of yours and confirm your commitment to this club, if that is indeed the case."

In January, Pogba's agent Mino Raiola addressed the situation.

He told Sky Sports News: "Paul has always respected Manchester United, as long as Manchester United has respected Paul.

"The only one that talks for Manchester United and Paul is Ole. I go by what he says; he will not move. That's OK and we are good with them.

"Paul is struggling a little bit with his injury and that's our main interest now. There's one objective that Paul has and that is to perform as well as possible with Manchester United.

"He's a top pro and I think that his heart is in the right place with Manchester United. Yes I can [see Pogba staying at United], but in a club that I hope fights for the league and hopefully the Champions League."
