Glenn Whelan set to keep place as Fleetwood take on Coventry

New signing Glenn Whelan is set to retain his place in the starting line-up for Fleetwood’s match against Coventry.

The Republic of Ireland midfielder impressed on his debut on Saturday just 24 hours after signing from Hearts.

Head coach Joey Barton is still looking to do more business before the transfer window closes.

Midfielder Jordan Rossiter has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Coventry manager Mark Robins made just one change for the weekend’s FA Cup draw against Birmingham but he may be tempted to change further for a second game in four days.

Midfielder Callum O’Hare was left on the bench because of a knock picked up in training but is set to return to the starting line-up after coming on as a substitute.

Forward Max Biamou could also be given a chance after impressing as a substitute.

Winger Jodi Jones continued his comeback from a year out with a second ruptured ACL with another outing for the under-23s on Monday.
