Crewe slipped out of the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League Two as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe.
After trailing to Jacob Bedeau’s 15th-minute header for the hosts, goals from Daniel Powell and Chuma Anene turned the game on its head, only for Kevin Van Veen to curl in an equaliser with 16 minutes to go.
Scunthorpe came close to going in front when Van Veen chipped goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen, only to see his effort headed off the line by Michael Nottingham.
However, from the resulting corner, Bedeau rose highest to head in at the far post.
Having been second best in the first half, Crewe improved after the break and levelled within 60 seconds of the restart when Powell cut inside and found the far corner.
Both teams had chances to add to the scoring, with Nottingham heading over the crossbar at one end and Abo Eisa denied by a fingertip save from Jaaskelainen at the other.
Crewe went in front in the 69th minute when Anene appeared to add the faintest of touches to a scuffed cross from Oliver Finney.
But Scunthorpe’s response was quick and after working the ball onto his right foot, Van Veen curled in his 13th goal of the campaign from 20 yards to secure the home side a point.
