Exeter waiting on Richardson fitness ahead of Colchester clash

Exeter will check on defender Jayden Richardson ahead of the Sky Bet League Two match against Colchester.

Richardson was forced off during the second half of the midweek EFL Trophy win over Stevenage because of a knock, so will be assessed.

Winger Lee Holmes made his first appearance of the season on Tuesday night, so could be involved again having recovered from a thigh problem and then a broken toe.

Striker Alex Fisher, sidelined for the last month with a groin injury, is another closing in on a return, while midfielder Nigel Atangana will serve the last of a three-match league suspension.

Colchester will monitor forward Frank Nouble ahead of the trip to St James Park.

The veteran striker has been carrying a back problem and was taken off early in the second half of Tuesday’s goalless draw with Bradford.

Courtney Senior is fit again following nearly a month out with a groin injury and could be in line to feature, having come on for Nouble in midweek.

Midfielder Ben Stevenson is pressing for a recall to the starting XI as the U’s look to extend their 14-match unbeaten league run and stay in the play-off places.
