Official: Reinier completes move to Real Madrid

Reinier Jesus has officially joined Real Madrid from Flamengo, following weeks of speculation about his future.

Both Real Madrid and Flamengo announced this in a press release on Monday afternoon, with the 18-year-old penning a contract until June 30, 2026.

Los Blancos have thus secured one of the brightest talents in Brazilian football, and for a fee that is slightly above 30 million euros.

In order to secure Reinier's arrival, Real Madrid have had to be ahead of the competition as the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City were all vying for his signature.

But once again, as was the case with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes' arrivals, Real Madrid have Juni Calafat to thank after his hard work not only picked out Reinier as a potential target but he was also able to strike up a relationship with the player, his family and his club.

Reinier, who only turned 18 on January 19, is a playmaker who can perform as a second striker or behind a strike duo in a 4-4-2.

Physically, he stands out for his power and his tremendous ability from distance, as well as possessing above-average technique.

There's no doubt that Reinier has the personality to put the team on his back - that's what he did at Flamengo - and decide matches.

With this addition, it is another example of Real Madrid's desire to sign the world's best talent for an affordable price; they are looking to bring in players who will become superstars in the future.

There are several prodigies now under contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, with Martin Odegaard, Andriy Lunin, Take Kubo, Vinicius, Rodrygo and now Reinier being the latest examples of a policy that began with the signings of Casemiro, Fede Valverde and Marco Asensio.

In fact, the latter three were signed for no more than five million euros and they have all become key players in the first team.

Reinier is currently with Brazil's under-23s at the CONMEBOL pre-Olympic tournament in Colombia, but after he will head to the Spanish capital and see out the rest of the season with Real Madrid Castilla, although he will be training regularly with the first team in order for Zinedine Zidane to keep a close eye on his development.
