Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber is set to have joint-leading scorer Cauley Woodrow available for the first time this year when the struggling Tykes host Preston.
Woodrow, who has scored nine times in the Sky Bet Championship this term, has missed the last four matches with a hamstring injury but is in line to play some part against North End.
Goalkeeper Sami Radlinger and defender Clarke Oduor could also be in contention after missing Saturday’s defeat at Bristol City through illness and an ankle injury respectively.
However, defender Bambo Diaby (knee) and winger Mike Bahre (illness) are set to be absent once again.
Preston manager Alex Neil is monitoring the health and fitness of Ben Pearson and Paul Gallagher ahead of the trip to his former club.
Pearson has been laid low by illness but has returned to training and will be assessed.
Fellow midfielder Gallagher, who also sat out Saturday’s 2-1 win over Charlton, has been battling a groin problem and Neil will make a late decision on his availability at Oakwell.
Andrew Hughes is closing in on a return after being out since New Year’s Day but Tom Bayliss, Billy Bodin (both ankle) and long-term absentee Louis Moult (knee) are out.
