Queen’s Park deny Edinburgh top spot

Edinburgh City missed the chance to move to the top of Ladbrokes League Two following a 2-1 defeat at home to play-off chasing Queen’s Park.
With Cove Rangers’ game against Stirling postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Edinburgh knew a win would take them one point clear at the summit.
But they failed to take advantage despite having the lead through Liam Henderson, with Billy Mortimer and Salim Kouider-Aisser completing the turnaround at the start of the second half.
Henderson struck in the 17th minute, heading in Craig Thomson’s free-kick for his fifth goal in his last six games.
Queen’s Park levelled eight minutes after half-time from Mortimer’s close-range header before Kouider-Aisser’s 14th goal of the season made it 2-1.
Queen’s Park cut the gap to Annan, who occupy the final play-off spot, to two points – as did Elgin, who thumped Annan 4-0 with two goals for Kane Hester.
The forward broke the deadlock just before half-time before Shane Sutherland, playing his 200th game for the club, netted his 23rd goal of the season to double his side’s advantage.
Hester took his goal tally to 15 in the 71st minute and Robin Omar added a fourth.
Brechin remain rooted to the bottom of the table following a 2-2 draw at fellow strugglers Stenhousemuir.
Oliver Hamilton’s 35th-minute goal opened the scoring for Brechin, but Andy Munro levelled just after the hour mark and David Hopkirk put the hosts ahead 10 minutes from time.
However, Hamilton salvaged an equaliser shortly after to leave Brechin two points from safety.
Albion Rovers remain third bottom after their clash with Cowdenbeath was postponed.
