Gillingham take point against 10-man Peterborough

Gillingham made it seven matches unbeaten with a 0-0 draw at Peterborough on Steve Evans’ first return to the club that sacked him 12 months ago.
The former Posh boss saw his current side look the more threatening but fail to score despite the home side finishing with 10 men when Mark Beevers received a second yellow card, although top scorer Ivan Toney nearly founded a late winner for Posh.
Victory would have put the Gills level on points with Peterborough who started the day in sixth despite three straight defeats.
Gillingham should have been ahead at the end of the first half, but debutant Tyler Roberts and Brandon Hanlan both headed against the bar after a free-kick from the left.
Gills goalkeeper Jack Bonham then spilt a Toney shot, but defender Bary Fuller superbly diverted Mo Eisa’s rebound onto the bar.
Posh then saw Beevers receive a second yellow after 87 minutes for blocking Hanlon.
But in the 95th minute, Toney could have won it for the home side, only to shoot wide in front of goal.
