Manchester United are interested in bringing Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek to the club in the January transfer window.

Manchester United transfer target Donny van de Beek has already decided that he doesn’t want to leave Ajax this month and therefore any potential deal may have to wait until the summer. The midfielder is also attracting interest from Real Madrid after impressing in last season’s Champions League.

According to ESPN, United are currently weighing up a deal for the Dutch international.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is pushing Ed Woodward towards making some signings after his side were embarrassed against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg.

Van de Beek is valued at around £50million by his club side Ajax.

However the 22-year-old has already made a decision on any potential transfer this month.

According to Dutch outlet AD, Van de Beek does not want to leave the club until the summer.

It’s a decision that he already made clear earlier in the season, when he spoke out on a potential departure.

"I don't want to leave during the January transfer window," he told Voetbal International in October.

"I'll play here until the end of the season; I'll finish the year at Ajax. That gives me peace of mind.

“We'll see what happens later. Do they know that in Madrid?

“Surely everyone knows. I don't like the idea of changing teams midseason."

Ajax planned to extend Van de Beek’s contract but those talks have since been shelved.

Reports last year claimed that the player was said to be close to joining Real Madrid. Tottenham have also been linked with the star in the past, after he scored against Spurs in last year’s semi-final.

Manchester United do also have an alternative if a move for Van de Beek fails.

ESPN also claim that they are in the race for Hakim Ziyech and he is a player that they admire.

The Moroccan is more of an attacking-player though and is equally as comfortable out wide.

Solskjaer is in need of a central midfielder to bolster his current options.

Scott McTominay has been arguably the club’s best player this season but he has been sidelined with knee ligament damage.

Paul Pogba’s return to the side has also been delayed after he was forced to undergo additional surgery on his ankle.
