Stevenage skipper Scott Cuthbert faces fitness test ahead of Colchester clash

Stevenage will have to check on the fitness of captain Scott Cuthbert ahead of Colchester’s visit in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.

He suffered a hamstring strain in the warm-up against Northampton and missed the 1-0 loss, with Chris Stokes replacing him.

Stokes returned after a lengthy absence through illness, but impressed and could keep his spot in the starting XI at Broadhall Way.

Tyler Denton missed the clash with Northampton after picking up a knock at Plymouth last weekend and is expected to be unavailable again.

Colchester skipper Luke Prosser returned from a knee injury to start Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Crawley and should remain in the team for the trip to Hertfordshire.

It was a welcome boost for U’s boss John McGreal, who has a number of players out with injury problems.

Cohen Bramall (ankle), Courtney Senior (groin), Paris Cowan-Hall (Achilles) and Tom Lapslie (suspension) were absent for the New Year’s Day clash.

Defender Omar Sowunmi was also unavailable after suffering a knock in Sunday’s fixture with Exeter and will most likely not recover in time to face struggling Stevenage.
