The striker, who has had an ankle injury, was rated 50-50 ahead of the Boxing Day match against Huddersfield but did not feature in the victory.
Goalkeeper Darren Randolph (thigh) and defenders George Friend (tendon), Ryan Shotton (ankle) and Anfernee Dijksteel (knee) remain absent.
Paddy McNair and Marcus Browne both serve the final game of their three-match suspensions.
