Morecambe came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory over Newport at the Globe Arena.
John O’Sullivan was the home side’s match winner with a superb team goal 10 minutes from time, running on to Kevin Ellison’s pass to direct a right-footed shot from the edge of the box beyond Nick Townsend low to his left.
Joss Labadie had given Newport the lead in the 14th minute. The midfielder raced on to the loose ball on the edge of the Morecambe area and unleashed a shot that bounced off the underside of the crossbar, with the assistant referee indicating that the effort had crossed the line.
It was just reward for a bright start from Newport, who saw Jamille Matt miss a golden chance after just 22 seconds.
Shrimps striker A-Jay Leitch-Smith forced Townsend into two early saves in the second half and Ellison turned an effort wide before Cole Stockton levelled on 68 minutes with a low shot on the turn to beat Townsend low to his right.
Newport looked to get back into the game but O’Sullivan’s 80th-minute strike was enough to claim maximum points for Morecambe.
