Goals from Tyler Smith and Tom Nichols sent Ipswich to a third defeat of the season as 10-man Bristol Rovers left Suffolk with a 2-1 victory.
James Norwood replied for the home side eight minutes from the end of the first half but they could not find an equaliser as the Pirates played the last 12 minutes with 10 men.
The visitors took the lead when a throw-in was flicked on by Nichols and was shielded in the penalty area by Ollie Clarke for Smith to fire high into the net.
And they extended their lead following a cross from the right by Alex Rodman which was headed home by Nichols.
Town pressure eventually paid off following a fine move which ended with Norwood heading home a pinpoint cross by Kayden Jackson.
Town almost drew level when Norwood’s stabbed shot hit the bar and Rovers keeper Anssi Jaakkola brought off a save in the 75th minute to deny the Ipswich striker.
Three minutes later the visitors were reduced to 10 men when Clarke got his second yellow card for coming back on the field without the referee’s permission.
