Wycombe extended their lead at the top of League One after taking advantage of Ipswich’s defeat with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Burton.
David Wheeler’s effort after 24 minutes put Wanderers in front before captain Matt Bloomfield added a late second as they moves seven points clear.
The visitors had their moments and but for a little more cutting edge would have left Adams Park with something more tangible, which their performance certainly deserved.
They fell behind midway through the first half when Wheeler poked home after Anthony Stewart had intelligently cut the ball back to him from a corner.
Burton pressed for an equaliser, with the lively David Templeton flashing just wide after combining nicely with Scott Fraser.
Fraser and Stephen Quinn both had Ryan Allsop in the Wycombe goal scrambling early in the second period before Burton captain Jake Buxton headed over from a perfectly-weighted Colin Daniel cross.
Despite Burton’s best efforts, Wycombe’s miserly defence held on and skipper Bloomfield made sure of victory in the last minute of normal time.
