Maloney absence adds to Newport woes

Newport’s injury crisis has worsened after on-loan midfielder Taylor Maloney was diagnosed with the mumps ahead of the visit of Stevenage.
Manager Michael Flynn is hopeful the illness has not spread to more members of his injury-ravaged squad.
Robbie Willmott suffered a recurrence of a calf injury during the warm-up ahead of last week’s defeat to Bradford and joins Kyle Howkins, Ade Azeez, Daniel Leadbitter and Keanu Marsh-Brown on the sidelines.
Scot Bennett, Corey Whitely and Joss Labadie are also dealing with injuries, with Flynn giving them until the last minute to prove their fitness, but Mickey Demetriou could return having been sidelined since August with a broken leg.
Stevenage boss Mark Sampson may shuffle his strikers again as he looks to end his side’s goal drought.
Boro remain in relegation danger after three successive 0-0 draws and they have managed just one goal in their last five league outings.
Five-goal forward Kurtis Guthrie may earn a recall after spending the last two games as a substitute.
Sampson will also check on defenders Ben Nugent and Luther James-Wildin, who have been sidelined through injury.
