Aiden McGeady not part of Parkinson’s plans

Aiden McGeady will not be considered for Sunderland’s League One clash with Blackpool on Saturday after being told he can leave the club in January.
The Republic of Ireland international did not play in last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Gillingham amid rumours of a training ground incident, and does not have a place in under-pressure manager Phil Parkinson’s plans.
Parkinson could welcome back United States midfielder Lynden Gooch, who is back in training after recovering from the ankle injury which has sidelined him since October.
Defender Jordan Willis (knee) is a doubt, while midfielder Dylan McGeouch (calf) is unlikely to figure.
Blackpool will be without Ben Heneghan through suspension as manager Simon Grayson returns to the Stadium of Light.
The on-loan Sheffield United defender picked up his fifth booking of the season during last weekend’s derby victory over Fleetwood and will serve a one-match ban.
Grayson otherwise has a full squad from which to choose against the club he managed for just 18 games.
The former Preston boss was sacked in November 2017 after managing only one championship win as he attempted to drag the club back into the top flight.
