Pep Guardiola is not planning on leaving Manchester City any time in the near future even if Liverpool win the Premier League title.

Pep Guardiola rubbished talk his spell at Manchester City might be reaching the endgame, insisting he is going nowhere.

The City boss has seen his side fall nine points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race leading to suggestions he may be ready to call it a day.

But ahead of Saturday’s top four clash against Chelsea at the Etihad, Guardiola insisted such thoughts could not be further from his mind.

And he insisted he remains “100 per cent” committed to the cause until the end of his contract in 2021 and possibly beyond.

“Why should people think I’m not happy here? Because we lost at Anfield or I’ve lost three games this season?” he said.

“If people say do I want to stay? I want to stay, I don’t have any reasons to move from here. I am incredibly satisfied to work with this club, these players.

“And if the people think I am going to resign or be sacked for these results and for being nine points behind then they don’t know me.”

Guardiola admitted City will not give up this season, if they fall short of Liverpool he would relish the chance to chase them down next season.

He explained: “I like to be in this challenge, I love to be in this position. And if the club wants [me] next season I want to be here 100 per cent.

“I am here because I win. If I don’t win I’m in trouble I know that but I’m incredibly satisfied to work in this city and this club and I want to help this club to get better.

“I would like to stay longer (than this season). If the club wants, I will stay.”

Guardiola has been boosted by the return of Ederson and David Silva for the visit of Frank Lampard’s side but he will be without Bernardo Silva is serving a one match ban for his controversial tweet to teammate Benjamin Mendy.

Although City ruled out an appeal at an FA punishment they felt was unjust, it did not stop Guardiola defending his striker against the decision.

“The less important thing is that we are going to miss him but that he’s been accused of something he’s not,” he said.

“He will be careful with social media and if this can help make a better society then Bernardo will accept it. But he’s not what he’s accused of.”
