Arsenal boss Unai Emery has until January to turn the club's slump around

Unai Emery has just over six weeks to turn Arsenal's fortunes around or face being sacked less than 18 months into his reign as Gunners boss.

Emirates chiefs fear that the Spaniard is draining the club's DNA with his dour, nondescript brand of football which has seen the north Londoners slip to sixth in the Premier League.

Arsenal have lurched from one crisis to the next in recent weeks and have managed just one win from their last seven games.

The official line at the club is that Emery still has the “100 per cent support” of head of football Raul Sanllehi and technical director Edu.

But according to The Sun, the former Paris St-Germain manager's time is ticking away and he could be gone as soon the New Year.

Some staff at the clun fear that Emery faces an impossible task to revive a club that has destroyed Arsene Wenger's legacy through a series of disastrous high-level appointments.

“The DNA that made Arsenal the club it was has slowly but surely drained away," one source told the Mirror.

“Appointments have been made – both before and after Wenger’s departure – that either didn’t work out or aren’t working out.

“Long-serving members of staff have been shocked by what’s happening to the club.”

The club has begun a major shake-up to the academy which has seen a number of staff bombed out, including the highly-repsected Steve Morrow.

“To say it was a shock to see so many good people leave so suddenly is an understatement," the insider added to the Mirror.

“Steve Morrow, in particular, is a huge loss. He is someone who is respected throughout football and is seen as having the potential to be a director of football.”

Arsenal had been rumoured to have contacted Luis Enrique to replace under-fire Emery but he reportedly has no interest in returning to football.

He has been out of work since leaving his role as Spain boss for personal reasons in June.
