MANCHESTER UNITED are lining up a summer move to sign Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha for the second time.

United are leading the race to snap up the forward in a £70million-plus deal.

Ivory Coast international Zaha endured a frustrating spell at Old Trafford after becoming Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing in 2013.

But United believe an older and wiser Zaha, 26, can be a success this time and would be prepared to pay the high fee Palace would demand if they allow him to leave Selhurst Park.

United are crying out for pace and creativity and some fans called for Zaha to come back after he put in a transfer request in August.

At that time, Zaha’s entourage made it known his heart was set on a move to Arsenal — only for the Gunners to sign Nicolas Pepe.

While he may still prefer to stay in London, a move to United would suit Palace.

The club had no financial need to sell Zaha last summer after letting defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka go to Old Trafford in a deal worth up to £50m.

Palace paid as little as £4m in 2015 but United negotiated a 25 per cent share of any future sell-on profit.

It is unclear how Zaha would feel about returning to a club where he made just four appearances before being loaned out.
