Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has opened up on Ederson ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted he's unsure if Ederson will be fit for his side's crunch Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

The Brazil international was forced out of the club's 1-1 Champions League draw with Atalanta on Wednesday through injury.

City managed to scrape a point from the game with Ederson's replacement, Claudio Bravo, seeing red. That meant Kyle Walker donning the gloves and the England international was able to keep a clean sheet.

And Guardiola has admitted he's unsure if Ederson will be fit for Sunday's crunch showdown with Liverpool.

His City side going into the game six points behind Jurgen Klopp's high-flying outfit.

And Guardiola said: "I don't know right now."

City could have beaten Atalanta had they managed to score a penalty, which was missed by Gabriel Jesus.

And Guardiola has admitted the missed penalty changed the game

"Definitely. Football is emotion," he said when quizzed on Jesus' miss.

"The second half we didn't do exactly what we should do. It was few chances conceded against one of the teams who create more. It was a perfect result away and we need one more point to go though.

"When we land in Manchester we will think about the next game in the Premier League."

Guardiola believes City were good value for their point, adding: "In this competition you know you have your chances and moments and you have to take it.

"But with the problems we have, we made a good first half.

"First half we were outstanding and second we suffered. In the last 15 minutes we had the issue with the new keeper."

Meanwhile, City star Walker admitted he enjoyed his stint in goal, saying: "Did I volunteer? I think it was a bit of both.

"I try and sometimes banter the keepers in training but I found you sometimes have to take two touches to make a save.

"We came here for a point or victory. To come away from here with a draw is a good point."

City will be hoping to avoid defeat at Liverpool.

They've suffered against the Reds in recent times but were able to hold Klopp's men to a 1-1 draw at Anfield in the same fixture last season.
