Borussia Dortmund are set to sell Jadon Sancho next summer but Manchester United would not be the ideal destination for the winger, claims European football expert Andy Brassell.

United are reportedly keen on signing Sancho as early as the January transfer window.

The Red Devils are said to be willing to offer over £100million for the England international.

Brassell says Borussia Dortmund know Sancho will not be at their club for an extended period of time.

But he claims Manchester United would not suit the 19-year-old's needs on the pitch in terms of competing for major honours.

"[Dortmund] understand they won't be able to hold him forever," Brassell told talkSPORT.

"They're just working out a position where they'll be able to sell him for the most money possible, probably at the end of this season, either just before or just after Euro 2020.

"I don't know if the fit is United, simply because even if they have the money he's now used to playing for a team that's got ambitions to play at elite competition and challenge to win stuff.

"Can United provide him with that? Is he the player that United are missing?

"To put him in a competitive United team where they can challenge for the Premier League and where they can challenge in the Champions League, if they even get in the Champions League at the end of this season, how much money would that take and how much time would that take?

"Can they give him everything that he's got at Dortmund? They can give him more money, they can give him more exposure, they can give him a hell of a lot more pressure with that price tag, but can they give him what he needs and what he thrives off at the moment?

"I would say no for the moment."
