Cuthbert the hero as Stevenage climb off the bottom

Scott Cuthbert’s late goal saw Stevenage beat Morecambe 1-0 in the battle of League Two’s bottom two.
Skipper Cuthbert’s first goal for nearly a year did the trick as the home side leapfrogged their visitors and climbed off the bottom of the table.
The Scottish defender headed home from Charlie Carter’s corner with eight minutes left to secure the points and only Stevenage’s second win of the season.
Shaun Miller forced a smart save from Sacha Bastien after only two minutes as Morecambe went close to taking an early lead.
Irish midfielder John O’Sullivan rifled a shot agonisingly wide of the left upright before Kurtis Guthrie and Kelland Watts both blasted wide with good chances for the hosts.
The first half ended goalless before Watts had a goalbound shot deflected wide for a corner, as Stevenage came within a whisker of breaking the deadlock.
But it was defender Cuthbert who won it with his first goal since November and condemned Morecambe to a worrying 10th league defeat of the season.
