Goals from Mark O’Brien and Jamille Matt moved Newport into the League Two play-off places with a 2-0 win at high-flying Swindon.
Newport were the dominant force in the first half and were well worth their 1-0 lead when O’Brien nodded a Robbie Willmott corner into the back of the net in the 38th minute.
Matt made it 2-0 eight minutes from time by finishing off a brilliant right-sided cross by Padraig Amond.
A breakadown in communication between Tyler Reid and Luke McCormick contributed to the killer goal, just moments after Reid came on as a sub for the hosts.
Lloyd Isgrove came close to levelling in first-half stoppage time, but his drive was palmed away by Newport keeper Tom King.
Richie Wellens’ side should have made it 1-1 in the second half, but Isgove’s shot from close range came back off the bar when he had time and space in the box to pick his spot from Rob Hunt’s low pass.
