Eden Hazard joined Real Madrid for an initial £88million in the summer but has yet to score for Los Blancos this season.

Real Madrid star Eden Hazard may have chose the wrong time to leave Chelsea for La Liga, according to former Premier League player Peter Crouch.

Hazard joined Real in the summer following months of speculation about his Chelsea future.

Real paid £88million to begin with and will cough up close to £130m in add-ons should Hazard reach certain performance-based targets.

The Belgian’s Real career, however, hasn’t started particularly well.

He missed the first few games of the season with injury but has failed to score or make his presence known in games against Levante and Paris Saint-German, with the Spanish giants thrashed 3-0 by the latter in the Champions League.

Crouch is sceptical about Hazard’s decision to leave Chelsea for Real, especially when the club are in somewhat of a transition period.

"I’m finding my way in the world of TV punditry and one of the reasons I joined BT Sport was so I could be involved in the Champions League action,” he told the Daily Mail.

"I watched three games this week, one of which was Real Madrid's trip to Paris Saint-Germain.

"Eden Hazard was out of sorts and I couldn't help but wonder whether he had joined the right club at the wrong time.”

In Hazard’s final season with Chelsea, he contributed to 32 goals and looked like he was about to hit the form of his life with Real.

But Crouch added: “He was a shadow of the player we were used to seeing in the Premier League.

"Real were poor and I would be amazed if they go all the way in this tournament.

"Hazard is so good he should have the Champions League on his CV.

"I’m just not sure Real are currently set up to give him that missing piece of silverware.”
