Buckley set to start for Bolton against Black Cats

Former Sunderland winger Will Buckley could start up front against his old club as Bolton continue their bid for a first Sky Bet League One win of the season.
The 29-year-old, who spent three years at the Stadium of Light earlier in his career, played in a three-man front-line in Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw against Oxford and is likely to be retained with manager Keith Hill’s options reduced by injuries.
Another former Black Cat, Daryl Murphy, is struggling with a calf injury, while Chris O’Grady continues to work his way back from a knee problem.
On-loan Stoke midfielder Thibaud Verlinden was withdrawn in midweek after complaining of tightness in a calf muscle, but he is expected to be fit, while full-back Joe Bunney is recovering from a fractured collarbone and broken ribs suffered in a car accident.
Sunderland midfielder Grant Leadbitter could return after sitting on the bench as an unused substitute for Tuesday night’s disappointing 1-1 home draw with Rotherham.
Leadbitter was left out as manager Jack Ross attempted to freshen things up, while defender Conor McLaughlin was rested as he nursed an ankle problem.
Both could return as the Black Cats attempt to recover lost ground having missed a penalty at 1-0 in midweek and been made to pay for it.
Defenders Laurens de Bock and Joel Lynch are close to returning to the squad after injury, but striker Duncan Watmore is missing as he continues to battle his way back from a thigh problem.
