Bolton hit for six in Keith Hill’s first game in charge

Rotherham stormed back from behind to smash Bolton 6-1 in Keith Hill’s first game in charge of Wanderers.

Freddie Ladapo and Carlton Morris both scored braces as the hosts earned their first win in all competitions since August 17 and handed the Trotters a fourth consecutive five-goal defeat in League One.

Bolton got off to a fine start under their new manager with one of their six debutants, Thibaud Verlinden, smashing in a fourth-minute opener after the Millers were caught out by a short corner.

But the home side rallied and levelled in the 14th minute, with midfielder Ben Wiles coolly slotting past Remi Matthews for a fine solo goal.

Ladapo turned the game in Rotherham’s favour by crashing in an effort in the 28th minute following a one-two with Morris.

Rotherham edged further in front five minutes before the break with Morris’s well-placed header beating Matthews.

Ladapo struck again from close-range in the 53rd minute and Morris’ deflected effort two minutes later put the home side out of sight.

Jake Hastie added to the misery in the 65th minute by tapping in the sixth from close-range.

Rotherham had chances to make it seven with Joe Mattock spooning over the bar before Ladapo was just inches away from completing his hat-trick.
