Dundee gave their fans something to cheer after a poor run of results with a 2-1 victory over Alloa at Dens Park.
James McPake’s men had lost three of their previous four competitive outings, including a 6-2 mauling at the hands of Dundee United in their last Ladbrokes Championship fixture.
However, they were able to celebrate their first win in over a month after seeing off mid-table rivals Alloa, who had come into the game on the back of successive wins in league and cup.
Dundee needed just two minutes to take the lead as Danny Johnson reacted quickest to a Declan McDaid header that came back off the crossbar to slot home.
That advantage lasted barely eight minutes as Liam Dick drew Alloa level with a close-range finish, but Dundee were back in front in the 39th minute.
Finlay Robertson picked out Joshua McPake and his cross was turned in by summer signing Jordan McGhee to open his goalscoring account for the club.
Alloa should have drawn level again five minutes after the restart but Alan Trouten saw his penalty, given for a foul on Kevin Cawley by Shaun Byrne, saved by Jack Hamilton, and Dundee were able to hold on for the win.
