Liverpool could sell Mohamed if three teams offer the required funds

Salah has developed into one of the most deadly attackers in world football in his time at Anfield

Mohamed Salah could leave Liverpool if Barcelona, Real Madrid or Juventus come calling next summer, according to Duncan Castles.

The Egyptian has proved a revelation at Anfield, scoring 74 goals in 110 appearances since completing a £37m move from Roma in 2017.

His debut season with the Reds saw him net an astonishing 44 goals in 52 games, smashing various club and Premier League records along the way.

And while he didn’t replicate his staggering form last term, Salah still bagged 27 goals in the same amount of matches, with one of them coming in their 2-0 Champions League final win over Tottenham.

As is so typically the case when a player develops into an elite-level star, whispers of a potential move to the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid begin to circulate.

Castles believes the El Clasico rivals and Juventus could put a huge transfer fee on the table for Salah next summer if he impresses again this season - and unfortunately for Liverpool fans, he thinks the club would be open to selling the 27-year-old for the right price.

"Well you have to say there’s still areas of the [Liverpool] squad that needs improvement,” he said on Reach Plc’s Transfer Window podcast.

"They’re light in terms of backups in defence, particularly at left-back.

"They could clearly do with a creative midfielder and they have needed that for a while.

"And then there’s also this kind of feeling, informed feeling in football, that Mohamed Salah might not stay at Liverpool for the entirety of his career if he has another season like the last two seasons he’s had and one of the really big names of European football, the absolute elite clubs, if a Barcelona or a Real Madrid, possibly Juventus, come in and say ‘we want to sign this player and we are prepared to go to the huge transfer fee that would be involved to take him’, whether he would push for that move.

"If he does, then obviously he would have to be replaced.

"And if he does, maybe, just maybe that’s not something that Liverpool would be adverse to if the numbers are right for them.”
